This is an introductory knitting course for beginners, no experience necessary. Students will learn how to cast on, knit, purl, and cast off. We will talk about how to fix mistakes, join a new ball of yarn, follow a pattern, read a chart, as well as material choice for both tools and yarn. This provides the basics of knitting flat items such as scarves or blankets with textures such as ribbing or moss stitch.
Brioche stitches use plain knitting, yarn overs, and slipped stitches to create a cushy ribbed fabric. In this class I will introduce participants to one and two-color brioche knitting. Two color Brioche only uses one color at a time. In order to participate students need to be able to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, slip stitches, and yarn over. No homework, we will start a Brioche washcloth in class.
